Rene is at Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento, Ca (2801 L Street, ICU - Room 3427).
He has been there for one week as of today. He is on a ventilator because he cannot breathe on his own due to complications of Wegener's Disease which is causing bleeding in his lungs. He developed a blood clot in his right arm and his doctors have made some changes with his IV to hopefully dissolve the clot. He is moderately sedated to keep him comfortable from the ventilator that requires a plastic tube to be inserted into his mouth and lungs. His range of motion is limited to his hands. When he is conscious he can write notes to his visitors and nurses, but is not able to speak, lift his arms, legs or head. Though he is in ICU, visitors are always welcome. The nursing staff highly recommend and encourage visitors to help keep up his spirits. I know that Rene would love to see visitors at any time.
Please keep Rene in your prayers!

Hi Rene,
ReplyDeleteI hope you are checking your messages on this thing because I just took a chance joining a blog (which I've never done) and even posting my picture for you! I just hope my computer doesn't get any viruses from joining. But I joined out of love for you Rene, so I could tell you I love you and am praying for you. I really hope you start feeling better soon. Just so you know, Jane is releasing all her pent up energy writing us long updates on your progress and enjoying being a little reporter. Please put her out of a job and get well soon!
Lots of love,
Cathy
